Actually, David – if you look again at the bottom left of the picture, you’ll see a tram held up by the same congestion.

This was Ferdinand Bol Straat before the City Council came to its senses and restricted car traffic and GVB raised the tracks onto the typically Dutch “Trambaan” of the 1980s/90s that now ensures priority for trams and buses.
